Vermont Verde Antique is a Serpentine Stone (Not Marble). It's characteristics are unique and recognized world wide for their beauty and durability.
Vermont Verde Antique is quarried in Rochester, Vermont for only 5-6 months out of the year. It's Classified as a Hydrous Magnesium Silicate. It has a rich dark green color with white & greenish-white veining accents. It's known in stone circles for unique coloration quality, high density and hardness . It is a Ultramafic Stone and is Metamorphic. The veining is usually a Magnesite mineral with some Quartzite. Vermont Verde Antique is from the Ordovician period of time (435 to 500 million years ago). It has natural plating characteristics caused from minerals existing which are related to Chlorite and Talc.
Verde Antique Serpentine is used for countertops, tiles, exteriors and monuments. It's also harder than many granites, doesn't stain, and keeps its shine when exposed to the elements.
